FIRE CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The Fire Code of New York State (FCNYS) is a code that regulates minimum fire safety requirements for new and existing buildings, facilities, storage and processes which provides a total approach of controlling hazards in all buildings.
BUILDING CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The BCNYS is a code that provides minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare of the occupants of new and existing buildings and structures. It addresses structural strength, means of egress, sanitation, adequate lighting and ventilation, accessibility, energy conservation and life safety in regard to new and existing buildings, facilities and systems.
MECHANICAL CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The Mechanical Code of New York State (MCNYS) establishes minimum requirements for mechanical systems using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. It is founded on broad-based principles that make possible the use of new materials and new mechanical designs.
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The PMCNYS is a maintenance document intended to establish minimum maintenance standards for basic equipment, light, ventilation, heating, sanitation and fire safety.
RESIDENTIAL CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The Residential Code of New York State (RCNYS) establishes minimum requirements for one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses using prescriptive provisions. It is founded on broadbased principles that make possible the use of new materials and new building designs.
FUEL GAS CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The Fuel Gas Code of New York State (FGCNYS) establishes minimum requirements for fuel gas systems and gas-fired appliances using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. It is founded on broad-based principles that make possible the use of new materials and new fuel gas system and appliance designs.
PLUMBING CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The Plumbing Code of New York State (PCNYS) addresses general plumbing regulations, fixture requirements, water heater installations and systems for water distribution, sanitary drainage, special wastes, venting, storm drainage and medical gases.
EXISTING BUILDING CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The Existing Building Code of New York State (EBCNYS) establishes minimum requirements for existing buildings using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. It is founded on broad-based principles intended to encourage the use and reuse of existing buildings while requiring reasonable upgrades and improvements.
ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE OF NEW YORK STATE
The ECCCNYS contains two separate sets of provisions-one for commercial buildings and one for residential buildings.
The ECCCNYS-Commercial Provisions apply to all buildings except for residential buildings three stories or less in height.
The ECCCNYS-Residential Provisions apply to detached one- and two-family dwellings and multiple single-family dwellings as well as Group R-2, R-3 and R-4 buildings three stories or less in height.
These scopes are based on the definitions of “Commercial building” and “Residential building,” respectively, in Chapter 2 of each set of provisions. Note that the ECCCNYS- Commercial Provisions therefore contain provisions for residential buildings four stories or greater in height.

UNIFORM FIRE PREVENTION AND BUILDING CODE - 1984 EDITION
The first version of the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code (Uniform Code) took effect on January 1st, 1984. The Uniform Code is applicable in all parts of the State, except New York City (which has its own building/construction codes).

UNIFORM FIRE PREVENTION AND BUILDING CODE - 1954 EDITION
With the purpose of providing consistent standards, NY State promulgated the State Building Construction Code Applicable to One- and Two-Family Dwellings, effective on November 1, 1951.

2016 NYS CODE SUPPLEMENT
When the 2015 I-Codes were adopted as part of the 2016 Uniform Code, certain provisions in those codes were modified. These modifications were made in the “2016 Uniform Code Supplement” publication.

2017 NYS CODE SUPPLEMENT
