Our History
New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association was formed in the mid-1970s by a handful of local fire marshals as a way of networking ideas for effective fire prevention efforts.

The New York State Fire Marshals & Inspectors Association (NYSFMIA) provides affordable professional level training, consulting, and continuing education in the fields of Community Risk Reduction, Code Enforcement, Fire Science, Fire Protection systems, Fire Prevention, High-Rise Fire Safety and Emergency Response.

It is the vision of the New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association is to provide educational and networking opportunities to its members so they may serve their communities and customers with excellence and effectively advocate for public safety.

To distribute to its members information pertaining to Fire Prevention, Fire Safety Education, Fire Protection, and Investigation as may be available; and to assist its members in the solution of any problems which may arise in these fields.
