This presentation will discuss how AHJs can enforce the requirements of NFPA 25. NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems.
While NFPA 25 provides the required tasks and frequencies to perform ITM activities, enforcement lies within the fire code.
This presentation will describe the differences in scope between the codes and standard, updates to NFPA 25 and the fire code involving enforcement, and how consistent enforcement will benefit the fire sprinkler industry.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify the scope of NFPA 1 and NFPA 25
- Determine the roles and responsibilities of the owner, the AHJ, and the ITM contractor
- Identify a deficiency and impairment and the proper action for each
- Determine the appropriate amount of time to correct a deficiency
