1 AIA CES approved LU available for attendees upon successful completion of an exam.

As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) continues to rise, so does the necessity for well-designed EV charging stations in nonresidential buildings, including schools, office buildings and hospitals. This session will equip mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineers — particularly electrical engineers — with the knowledge and tools to design effective and compliant EV charging systems.

Learn about load management, site assessment, infrastructure integration and safety protocols based on current codes and standards from NFPA, ASHRAE and energy efficiency regulations. Practical applications will be emphasized, providing attendees with actionable insights that can be immediately implemented in their projects.

The session will feature relevant case studies showcasing successful EV charging station implementations, highlighting lessons learned and best practices. Participants will engage in discussions around the challenges faced in designing these systems. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of the complexities of EV charging station design and the critical power requirements essential for their successful integration into modern infrastructure.
